Ignore PDP’s Apology-Tinubu tells Nigerians

Don’t Accept PDP’s Apology, Tinubu Tells

Nigerians

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has taken a swipe at the previous Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – led administration calling on Nigerians not to accept the apology of the party.

Tinubu said this on Thursday, in Lagos during a colloquium organised to mark his 66th birthday celebration. The APC leader accused PDP of looting and wasting Nigeria’s resources.

The PDP had, on Monday, tendered an apology to Nigerians for what it described as mistakes made while the party was in power prior to the 2015 general elections. Tinubu, however, said APC is on the voyage of redirecting Nigeria, and therefore PDP’s apology should be ignored.

“The voyage of hope that we are reclaiming, reinventing, and redirecting Nigeria is on. Dear Nigerians, don’t take their (PDP) apology. They lied, they falsified, for 16 years, they made fake promises. There’s a difference between us and them. Night and day.

“I am happy the President can change the course of the ship of this country that was heading in the wrong direction. It was necessary to steer the ship back before the final crash, it was necessary,” Tinubu said.

The National Chairman of PDP, Mr Uche Secondus, who tendered the apology to Nigerians, during an event organised by the party in Abuja, admitted that although the party did its best while in government, it was not void of mistakes.

Tinubu, however, said the Buhari-led administration will not keep quiet about the mistakes of PDP-led administration but will continue to expose it to Nigerians.

“We have to report to millions of Nigerians who voted for us, that this is what we found and we are not going to take it off the ground, no matter how twisting the mind of PDP and their supporters may be, we will keep talking about it.

“You looted! You wasted our resources! You did not do what you promised!, he said, pointing accusing fingers at the PDP.

According to Tinubu, Nigeria’s market, during the previous administration was at its peak but was mismanaged.

“The market gave you the maximum. The production level was at the maximum,” he said.

‘I Have Gotten The Most Beautiful Birthday Present’

After lambasting the previous administration, Tinubu took time out to appreciate Nigerians for supporting the APC-administration.

“Thank you, Nigerians, for being patient with us,” he said.

Tinubu, who addressed the crowd without reading from his prepared speech, lauded Buhari-led administration and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for not encouraging corruption.

3 Tricks to stop Coughing immediately- Spend no Money

How to Stop Coughing in 5 Minutes

A persistent cough is painful and frustrating. It can be caused by everything from a dry throat to sinus drainage to asthma. The key to combating your cough quickly is selecting the right solution for your type of cough.

Method One of Three:
Getting Hydrated

  1. 1

Reach for fluids. As with any illness, staying hydrated is your first line of defense against coughing. If your cough stems from a dry throat, a little hydration might be all you need. Even if your cough is caused by something else, drinking plenty of fluids is never a bad idea.[1]

    • If your throat is raw or irritated from coughing, be sure to avoid beverages that might irritate it further, such as acidic juices like orange juice.
    • Be careful with dairy, too. While the notion that milk makes more mucus is a myth, milk — particularly whole milk — might coat your throat and make you feel as though you have more phlegm. On the other hand, if your cough is caused by irritation or dryness, cold dairy products might be soothing.[2][3]
    • When in doubt, always choose water.
  2. 2

Make the fluids warm. For certain coughs, such as ones caused by congestion or sinus drainage, warm liquids can be even more effective than cold or room temperature ones.

    • Whether it’s the perennial favorite of herbal tea with honey or just hot water with lemon, “[a]ny warm liquid can help break up mucus in your airways,” according to the American Lung Association’s chief medical officer.[4]
  3. 3

Try saltwater. Particularly in cases of cold- or flu-related coughs, salt water is your friend.

    • Either gargling with salt water or using a saline-based nasal spray can help kill the viruses or bacteria causing the postnasal drip that’s making you cough along with giving some short-term relief by flushing mucus out of your throat.
  4. 4

Consider steam — in some cases. Conventional wisdom often dictates that steam from a shower or a humidifier can help combat a cough; however, that’s only the case if your cough is due to dry air.

    • If you’re coughing because of congestion, asthma, dust mites, or mold, among other causes, moist air could actually make your cough worse.[5]

Method Two of Three:
Changing Your Environment

  1. 1

Stay upright. Being horizontal can cause mucus to drain into your throat.

    • When sleeping with a cough, for example, you should prop up your head with pillows to prevent sinus drainage from pooling in your throat, causing you to cough.[6]
  2. 2

Keep the air clean. Stay away from dirty air, including cigarette smoke.[7] Particulates in the air could either be the source of your cough or worsen one that has other causes.

    • Strong fragrances, such as perfumes, can cause some people to cough, even if they’re not irritating to others.[8]
  3. 3

Keep the air still. Avoid wind, ceiling fans, heaters, and air conditioners, because moving air can make coughs worse.[9]

    • Many cough sufferers believe that blowing air makes their cough worse, either by further drying their airways or by producing additional tickling sensations likely to trigger a cough.
  4. 4

Try breathing exercises. While most breathing exercises are aimed at those with chronic conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, they can be used by anyone struggling with a cough.

    • You can try “controlled coughing” or “pursed lip breathing,” among other techniques. In pursed lip breathing, for example, you begin by taking a deep breath through your nose and counting to two. Then, while pursing your lips as if you’re about to whistle, you slowly exhale to the count of four.[10][11]

Method Three of Three:
Taking the Next Steps

  1. 1

Reach for the medicine. If your cough persists, consider trying anti-cough medicines.

    • Cough medicines usually combine two ingredients: an expectorant, which loosens mucus, and a suppressant, which blocks the cough reflex. Check the labels to pick the one that’s best for your cough.[12]
    • Your doctor may be able to prescribe a cough syrup containing codeine, which can be a very effective cough suppressant. Be sure to follow the dosage instructions exactly as outlined by your doctor, as codeine has the potential to become habit-forming.
  2. 2

Sooth your throat. Consider sucking on throat lozenges, eating frozen treats (such as popsicles), or gargling with salt water to sooth your throat if your cough has inflamed it.[13]

    • Many cough medicines contain a mild anesthetic to decrease the cough reflex. Likewise, cold items, such as popsicles, are thought to work by temporarily numbing the throat.[14]
  3. 3

Try menthol products. Whether in the form of lozenges, ointments, or vapors, menthol has been shown to alleviate coughing.[15][16]

    • Menthol raises the “cough threshold,” which that in increases the severity of sensations necessary to trigger a cough.[17]
  4. 4
Know when to see the doctor. If your cough is accompanied by shortness of breath, bloody mucus, severe pain, or a fever above 100.4°F (38°C) among other severe symptoms, consider seeing a doctor.[18]

Dead blow hits Obasanjo- from Adebanjo

Obasanjo’s Tenure As Nigeria’s President Was A Calamity – Adebanjo

A prominent Afenifere Chieftain, Ayo Adebanjo has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration as a calamity.

The elder statesman said this in his autobiography titled ‘Telling It As It Is,’ which was publicly presented in Lagos on Tuesday.

In the book which was read by Professor Wale Adebamwi, the author took a swipe at former President Obasanjo. Adebanjo said if it were to be in a decent society, Obasanjo will not feature in public anymore, adding it amazes him how people give Obasanjo ‘undue prominence in spite of his known character.’

“As for Obasanjo, the author reserves his severest content. Obasanjo’s tenure as President, he declared was a calamity, adding that for all the negative things that people has about Obasanjo which he could not refute. If it were to be in a decent society, people like him will not feature in public light again. There’s more, when you read the book,” Adebamwi, the book reviewer said.

Adebanwi said further that the book is sharpest criticism for a fellow Yoruba leader. The author in the book described Obasanjo’s eight years in government between 1999 and 2007 as a civilian President as a tragedy and calamity, declaring that his scorecard was nothing to write home about.

“The man who carried on as if he was all-in-all failed woefully on all counts as President. His eight-year tenure (1999-2007) was a tragedy. His scorecard was nothing to write home about. What did he do in eight years? Before he came, we were buying fuel for N20 per litre, and crude oil was $23 per barrel. In 2007, under his regime, we were buying fuel at N75 per litre, and crude oil was between $65 and $75 per barrel. In the worst days of Abacha, one dollar was over N120,” Adebanjo wrote in the book.

In the book, Adebanjo did not only fault Obasanjo’s eight-year democratic rule. He raises the question of Chief Bola Ige’s decision to join the Obasanjo’s administration which he ranked as one of the gravest and one of the most fatal political errors ever committed by a leading progressive politician in Nigeria’s history.

The author, however, describes Chief Ige as brilliant, one of the greatest Awoist.

“We were opposed to Ige joining Obasanjo’s cabinet but he accepted the appointment oblivious of the fact that Obasanjo was not inviting him in good faith. Bola Ige didn’t need Obasanjo, it was Obasanjo who needed Ige.

“However, how a man of such superb and enviable endowment could join the cabinet of one of the most perverse figures in our political history is a question that the author attempts to grabble with in this book,” Adebamwi added while reviewing the book.

Obasanjo hits Buhari and APC hard again.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again criticised the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, maintaining that the government has failed.

The former president said this on Monday when he received members of the New Nigeria group at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

“The first lesson I learnt in my military training is never reinforce failure; what we have now is failure. Never you reinforce failure, let failure be failure,” he said.

Obasanjo had on Tuesday (January 23, 2018) issued a 13-page statement, criticising President Buhari’s performance and calling for a new movement to salvage the country from its challenges.

He had also warned the President against seeking re-election, alleging that the present government has failed in one of the areas it pitched as its ‘key point of action’ when it assumed office – the anti-corruption fight.

Incompetent Government?

Addressing members of the New Nigeria group at his residence today, the former president rated the present administration as ineffective.

He said, “The truth is this – when you have an ineffective and incompetent government, we are all victims and don’t let anybody deceive you.

“Those of you who are in business, your business could have been better today if we have a competent and effective and performing government.”

Obasanjo also accused the President of having a “poor understanding” of the dynamics of internal politics.

He warned Nigerians not to get carried away by the recent apology tendered by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as the reforms of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“This time, for us to make it, we need all hands on deck,” Obasanjo stated. “I have publicly said and I mean it that as a party, neither PDP nor APC can get us there; never mind about reforms and apology and all that,” he said.

Obasanjo further asked the APC to stop giving excuses that it has yet to perform better because it met challenges, noting that the party was aware of the challenges before it wrestled power from the PDP.

He then asked youths in the country to rise up to the challenge of providing the much needed new generation of leadership for the development of Nigeria’s socio-economic and political development.

The former president also asked the younger generation to take the bull by the horn, if they must effectively confront “power addicts” in their resolve to achieve the set goals and objectives of providing an alternative in the political leadership of the country.

He stressed the need for a “strong popular grassroots movement” in Nigeria, saying that’s the way to bring about the change, sustainability and stability the nation needs in its democracy

On the flip said, the former president said, “You cannot take PDP as it is, and APC as it is; but they are not all made of evil people, there are good people. I said PDP is leprous hand, APC is leprous hand, but there are some clean fingers in them.

“So, let’s take those clean fingers in them and graft the clean fingers in our own. That is the way to go and if we go that way, we will get there.
